How to avoid style mistakes

Comments (2) How to wear

In a man’s wardrobe, a shirt is an eclectic piece of clothing, perfect for all occasions. However, it requires a lot of attention to detail, to wear a shirt in a correct manner, otherwise it’s easy to fall into some style mistakes, even unconsciusly, which create a sense of carelessness. Anyway, it must be said that it’s equally easy to commit these errors as it’s to avoid them, just by internalizing a few tips!

Pay attention to colors

Colors can make or break your style, so there must be a certain balance between them, in fact style mistakes are often created matching wrong tones. You should be avoiding entirety dark looks as well as multicolor combinations in order to appear elegant. To keep in mind is also that if you’re wearing a white shirt, it should be pure white: do not wear them over printed of colorful t-shirts or tanks, as they can been seen through the shirt and it’s not really graceful. White and other light colors can easily be combined with many tones, even with brighter hues, but just be careful not to overdo, just one vivid color garment in one outfit: a scarf, a patterned sweater, a trendy solid color coat or even just a colorful tie gives you all the brightness you need. Be careful also when matching patterned or check shirts, you should prefer monochromatic garments with them, that match one of the shirt’s colors. A perfect combination is a classic jacket, tone on tone sweater and one colorful accessory (scarf, tie or even a pair of shoes), keeping the rest of the clothing toned down to one color.

Order and precision

Knowing how to dress well is a matter of taste, but also of paying attention to details. A white shirt is an evergreen choice to be stylish, but it should be avoided during hot summer days, as heat and dust make it easily look worn and dirty, taking away the fressness of it. White and other light colors are beautiful only if perfect, so it’s better pay attention to any stains, dust, wrinkles or other defects of any kind! Another style mistake, if you are willing to be elegant, is to wear one of those shirts, produced by some trendy fashion houses, with a huge brand logo on them. A polished man doesn’t need a brand logo to have charm!

You should also take all different fits and sizes into consideration, one of the worst style mistakes is to wear a shirt that is too small, but neither should you wear a too large shirt. Wear a tie only if you’re able to tie it properly, otherwise leave it at home, but remember you should never leave more than two shirt buttons open (in addition to the collar button), even if it was sultry summer day. If you’re wearing jeans and a tucked shirt, it’s a must to wear a belt, alternatively you should choose a shirt model that can be worn untucked and if seeking for charm and elegance you should forget all low waisted pants. Finally, unless you’re at the beach, let go of all tropical and Hawaiian patterns and keep always in mind that the first rule of elegance is moderation!
