Pocket square: how to stand out with glamour

|
Pocket square, also known as pochette, is worn as an embroidered detail both with informal clothes and formal suits. The most used fabrics are silk, satin, cotton, linen, whereas its decorative drawings can be patterns, stripes, dots, checks, matched to different colours and tones. When you choose a pocket handkerchief, you should match it with your garment harmoniously.
A white linen handkerchief, matched to a white shirt, is for example the best match for formal events. Instead, with checked coordinated jacket and trousers you should wear more casually and then choose bright coloured handkerchiefs. As far as the matching to your tie is concerned, in contrast to what most people think, it is not a must: wearing a handkerchief is a choce of style, and the only rule is to have a fine taste.
And talking about fine taste, pay attention to the size: pocket handkerchief should never stick out from your pocket too much, but not even too little. The ideal size of the corner should be between one and two centimetres, taking care of checking its correct position from time to time. If you finally wonder how to fold it, here is a tutorial video that shows the three main kinds of folding: corners, triangle or puffed. |
